2002 Skydive Delmarva News Archive

11.17.02, Unfortunately we were burgled on the night of Wednesday 13th November 2002 at Skydive Delmarva in Laurel, Delaware and a number of rigs were stolen. I'm pretty certain that who ever has this equipment will have a hard time moving it on the American market without eventually being caught and therefore, maybe a visitor from overseas is the culprit!
Any information you may have to help us recover the equipment or apprehend the culprit(s) would be gratefully received and appreciated.

Contact Martin Evans or Tracey Eckersley.

11.11.02, Veteran's Day boogie was over the weekend. We had a good turnout of both students and fun jumpers. A few loads were put up but unfortunately the winds kept us on the ground most of the weekend. The winter months are upon us and things are slowing down. We will remain open every weekend throughout the winter.

9.29.02, The Fallfest boogie over the weekend went very well. Max Cohn and Patrick Heaney of Generation Freefly were available for freefly coaching. Morton & Ulla Berger were available for RW organizing. The weekend started off slow on Saturday due to heavy winds but soon picked up to full non-stop CASA loads the rest of the day. At night we started things off with free beer and dinner. Then the party progressed throughout the night. The week before we had night jumps out of the Twin Otter which went very successfully.

9.18.02, This Saturday, September 21 we will be offering night jumps for B or higher licensed jumpers. The weekend of Sep 27-29 will be our Fallfest boogie featuring the CASA. Max Cohn and Patrick Heaney of Generation Freefly will be available to coach and organize freeflyers. Morton and Ulla Berger from Carolina Skysports/Florida Skydiving Center, Lake Wales will be organizing RW jumpers. We will also have a tent from EG Sky Technologies.

8-20-02, Congratulations to Skydive Delmarva's newest 4-way team. Team Murphy's Law just won their second VPC meet of the season. Good Luck to future competitions.

7-22-02, The canopy skills camp went well. We had eight participants each day starting Friday July 18. Scott Miller did a great job with the lectures and one-on-one coaching. Each student was given a pre-jump brief and then their landing was videoed and de-briefed. Instruction included basic techniques of holding in a pattern and setting up for landing to high performance swoop techniques. Check out the schedule for upcoming events.

6-11-02, Both RW skills camps went great. We had 28 participants with each one leaving with a smile. :-) The first camp was a basic RW camp focusing on the basics, while the second one focused on more advanced 4-way and larger formation flying skills. Pete Allum and Thomas Hughes from Sebastian XL gave seminars on safety, basic body position, and much more including more advanced 4-way skills. They each jumped with different groups throughout the weekend. They ended the camp with the remaining jumpers doing a 10-way formation dive. More information to follow along with some pictures.

4-19-02, Skydive Delmarva is proud to announce that we are the new home DZ chosen by Tom Parker, formerly of Zephyrhills, Florida, at which to base his existing rigging company The Rigging Room and his brand new gear store The JumpStuff Room. Come out and make a jump. We have many great changes and would love to see everyone very soon.

4-18-02, I would like to thank everyone for all their great support thought my terrible ordeal. Everyone has been wonderful and I appreciate it very much. As you can see I am doing much better and will see everyone soon.

Blue Skies,
Adam

3-23-02, Martin Evans the DZ general manager is back form his winter in Florida. We have many great events planned for the season and look forward to seeing everyone in the air!

3-20-02, Safety day on March 9 went very well. The weather was perfect for seminars, including canopy skills, pre-boarding, boarding, and exit advice, also included were seminars for aircraft safety and of course a gear seminar.

3-4-02,

All;

I apologize if this causes anyone any problems but only two people had confirmed with me on attending the coaches course this weekend. There were additional people that would attend if I could schedule it in early June so that is what I have done. I just got off the phone with USPA and rescheduled the course for June 13-16. The course should start Thursday evening and with the longer days it should be no problem accommodating more people. This should also permit more convenient time for people to at least sit in on a first jump course prior to attending the coaches course (item 2 on the proficiency card).

Please call me ASAP if this is a problem (301-737-2351), or email me with your phone number and I will call you ASAP.
